Change appearance, language, and country

Motif Studio can follow your device appearance and language, or use choices you make in the app. Your country also determines how product sizes and prices are presented.

Choose light or dark appearance​

  1. Open the account menu from your avatar.
  2. Open Appearance.
  3. Choose Auto, Light, or Dark.

Auto follows your device setting. The choice changes the app interface; it does not recolour the pages in your project. To change the design itself, use Colours, patterns, and themes.

Change the app language​

The language control appears in the header on the landing page and My Projects.

  1. Open the language control.
  2. Choose your preferred language by its native name.
  3. Reopen your project if you want to continue editing.

On first use, Motif Studio considers your browser or device language. A language you choose manually is remembered for later visits.

Your preferred language is used for new interface text, Motif Studio responses, and newly generated project names, titles, text, and captions. Words you provided yourself—such as names, quotations, and captions—are preserved.

The Documentation link in the account menu opens the Help Centre in the same language. You can also use the Help Centre language menu to switch languages while staying on the equivalent guide.

In the Motif Studio app for Mac, the Documentation link opens the Help Centre in your default web browser. On a Mac with the app installed, the Help Centre's Open Motif Studio button takes you back to the app; everywhere else it opens Motif Studio on the web.

When release notes are available, the account menu on My Projects and in the editor also includes What's New for your current version. The window can open automatically there once per version. Opening the app on the start, sign-in, or create-project page skips that version's automatic announcement; you can still read it later from the account menu on My Projects or in the editor. In that window, Tab and Shift+Tab move between its controls. Press Escape or select Close to return to the app.

Change country or region​

  1. On the landing page or My Projects, select the flag in the header.
  2. Search or type to find a country.
  3. Select the country from the list.

Country affects the currency used for prices and whether product measurements are shown in metric or imperial units. In the iOS app, Motif Studio first considers the device’s Region setting; on the web, it uses available browser and device locale information.

Choosing a country may also select that country’s supported primary language. You can change the language separately afterward.

Wall calendar language and holidays​

A wall calendar also has project-specific choices for its printed calendar language and national holidays. Those choices are separate from the Motif Studio interface language. Open the calendar’s product options to review them before ordering.
