Common questions
These answers cover the questions that most often come up while working in Motif Studio.
Why didn’t renaming my project change the cover?
The project name above the editor is the label shown in My Projects. The cover title is printable text inside the design. Edit each one separately: rename from the project card’s … menu, and select the cover title to change the printed words.
Why can’t I see the page controls?
Close any open photo, text, or map toolbar, then tap or point to an open part of the page. On a small screen, page controls remain hidden while an item toolbar is open so the controls do not overlap.
Where do I add more photos?
Choose the + beside the chat field, or open Photos and choose Add photos. You can upload from your device or choose from Google Photos. See Add photos to a project.
How many photos can I put on one page?
A regular page can hold up to 36 photos, text boxes, and maps in total; preset layouts arrange up to nine, and adding a tenth switches the page to a freeform arrangement that you can also ask Chat to design on the page grid. Other surfaces have limits based on their printed design—for example, panoramic spreads use one shared position, and covers or flaps offer only arrangements that fit. Motif Studio hides or disables actions when the selected surface is full.
What does “Non-Printing Page” mean?
Inside-cover pages marked Non-Printing Page are shown to explain the project structure, but that surface is not included in the print output. Place content only on surfaces intended to print.
Why can’t I edit a shared project?
A shared link is view-only. Return to My Projects, open your own saved project, and use Edit view. Learn more in Share a project.
Does Motif Studio save automatically?
Edits save as you work. If Saving changes… appears, keep the project open until it finishes. On a phone, an open Edit Text draft is not finished until you choose Done or Cancel.
How do I contact support?
Ask in the project chat. If the assistant cannot resolve the problem, it prepares a support ticket for you: the Create a Motif Support Ticket window opens with an editable subject and description, prefilled from your conversation along with your user and project IDs. Adjust the text if you like, then choose Send ticket. The ticket goes to the Mimeo Support team under your account email, and the team follows up by email. Nothing is sent until you choose Send ticket.
You can also open the account menu from your avatar and choose Contact Support — it opens the same ticket window. If you have been discussing a problem in the project chat, the subject and description prefill with a summary of it; otherwise fill them in yourself. Include the product type, the step you were taking, what you expected, and what appeared instead. On a shared-project link, Contact Support opens the Mimeo support site instead, even when you are signed in, so another person’s project is never attached to your ticket.
