Editing and ordering problems

Start with the message currently shown in the editor. A saving message, project update, print review, and checkout preparation each require a different response.

Editing controls are hidden

  1. Close any open photo, text, map, colour, or layout control.
  2. Select the page or item again.
  3. On a phone, turn it upright. A phone held sideways shows your project for viewing only, with Viewing at the top.
  4. If an update message is visible, wait for it to complete before editing.

A shared link is always view-only. Open the project from My Projects when you need to edit.

Text does not appear saved

  1. On a phone, choose Done in Edit Text rather than closing the sheet with an unfinished draft.
  2. Wait for Saving changes… to disappear before leaving the editor or changing products.
  3. If the text reverts after a save warning, reopen the same text box. Motif Studio may restore the latest draft that needs another save.
  4. Check your connection, revise the text if needed, and choose Done again.

Avoid closing the tab while the browser warns that changes are still pending.

Undo or Redo is disabled

The button is unavailable when there is no saved version in that direction or while the project is busy. Wait for any visible update to finish. If you made a new edit after undoing, the former redo path may no longer be available.

See Undo and redo changes for details.

A project update does not finish

If an update takes longer than expected, choose Refresh project when it appears, or reopen the project from My Projects. Editing stays blocked while the update is running. After an interruption, allow a few minutes before refreshing again.

Reopening loads the latest saved version. If you see an interrupted-update notice, check your project before sending the request again: some or all of the changes may already have been saved. Closing the tab does not cancel a running update.

When creation finishes, your project opens in the editor. Background photo grouping does not display an editing progress overlay.

A red text warning remains

Select the warning to identify the issue.

  • Shorten overflowing text, reduce its size, adjust line spacing, or give the text box more layout space.
  • For low contrast, change the text colour or page background so the words stand apart.

The warning clears only after the text fits or passes the readability check. See Add and format text and captions.

The order review keeps returning

The quality check runs again every time you add the project to the cart while listed issues remain. Choose I’ll Fix These, correct the items in the editor, and then choose Add to cart again. If you intentionally want to continue without changing them, choose Ignore and Order for that attempt.

Read Review before ordering for the full issue list and both available actions.

The project does not reach the cart

  1. Keep the tab open while Adding your Photo Book to the cart… is visible, naming your product.
  2. Motif Studio then takes you to the cart in the same tab. If you started through chat instead, Your project is ready to add to the cart. appears there — choose Add to cart to add it and open the cart.
  3. If you returned from the cart with the browser’s Back button, wait for editing to unlock before trying again.
  4. Confirm that your connection is active, then choose Add to cart once more.

The cart opens in the same tab, so do not wait for a separate pop-up window. You can also open it any time from the cart icon in the header.

If an item seems to be missing, note that the cart is read from the store rather than the editor, so it can lag by a moment after you add a project. Reload the cart, and check whether the project is already there under a different product, size, or finish than you expected. If you add the same project again, the cart keeps a single line for it: the newest version replaces the earlier one.

PDF preparation does not finish

Keep the project open while Creating and validating your print PDF… appears. Large projects can take longer. Avoid changing pages in another tab during preparation. If the message remains unchanged for several minutes, reload the editor only after confirming there are no pending text saves, then try the download again.

Contact support

Open the account menu and choose Contact Support when the same step fails again. Include the project type, affected page, exact on-screen message, whether you are using web or iOS, and a screenshot. Do not include payment details in the screenshot or description.
